US Panel of experts publishes myeloma treatment recommendations
Using a modified Delphi approach, a panel of 16 US multiple myeloma (MM) experts generated consensus recommendations for MM management across the disease spectrum. The corresponding report was published in the American Journal of Hematology.

 CELMoD combination in the spotlight at EHA 2026 Late-Breaking Abstract Session
The phase 3 SUCCESSOR-2 trial will be featured during the Late-Breaking Abstract Session at the 2026 Annual Congress of the European Hematology Association. SUCCESSOR-2 data show a clinically meaningful progression-free (PFS) benefit with mezigdomide-carfilzomib-dexamethasone (Mezi-Kd) over Kd as early as first relapse in patients with relapsed/refractory MM (RRMM).

Isatuximab-based induction/consolidation yields higher MRD-negativity rates
A post hoc analysis of the phase 3 IMROZ study showed higher minimal residual disease (MRD)-negativity rates with isatuximab-bortezomib-lenalidomide-dexamethasone (Isa-VRd) followed by Isa-Rd, compared with VRd followed by Rd. These results, reported in Blood, have an accompanying commentary. Previous IMROZ findings showed that Isa-VRd/Rd recipients with transplant-ineligible newly diagnosed MM obtained a significant PFS benefit compared with VRd/Rd recipients.

Real-world study shows improved survival with BCMA CAR-T therapy over teclistamab
According to an updated retrospective analysis of survival outcomes in a real-world cohort of patients with RRMM who received either BCMA CAR-T therapy or teclistamab between 2021 and 2023, CAR-T therapy was associated with superior overall survival (OS) compared with teclistamab (hazard ratio, 0.61). These data were shared as a poster presentation at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting.

Genomic heterogeneity may drive epigenomic dysregulation in myeloma
In a cohort of nearly 900 patients spanning the myeloma continuum, genomic and cytogenetic alterations were found to potentiate cycles of epigenetic plasticity. These findings, published in Cancer Research, suggest that the resulting dysregulation may underpin the evolution of therapeutic resistance and sequential relapse, the authors concluded.

CAR-T therapy has comparable efficacy in older and younger patients
Although MM is a malignancy primarily of older adults, patients older than 70 are often underrepresented in clinical trials. A retrospective study of patients with RRMM who received treatment in German or Swiss hospitals, published in the Blood Cancer Journal, showed comparable age-stratified OS and relapse incidence among older (≥70 years) and younger (<70 years) recipients of CAR-T therapy.
