International Myeloma Society Convenes Global Cure Summit to Chart the Scientific Path to a Myeloma Cure

World’s leading myeloma experts gather Feb. 20–21 in Miami to examine long-term outcomes and assess whether long-lasting remission can truly signal cure; free global streaming available

Miami, FL (January 22, 2026) — The International Myeloma Society (IMS) will convene the Myeloma Cure Summit: Definitions, Metrics, and Milestones on February 20–21, 2026, bringing together the world’s leading myeloma researchers, clinicians, and cooperative study groups for a landmark global meeting focused on one central question: How close is the field to achieving a cure for multiple myeloma, and what will it take to get there?

Held in Miami, Florida, and available via free global on-demand streaming, the Cure Summit will unite international experts to analyze decades of long-term patient outcome data, define scientific benchmarks of cure, and align on a shared global framework for accelerating progress toward durable, measurable cures in multiple myeloma.

“For the first time, we are in a position to rigorously ask whether long-term remission in multiple myeloma can be defined as cure,” said Philippe Moreau, MD, President of IMS. “This Summit brings together global data, expertise, and experience to establish clear scientific definitions and benchmarks that can guide future research and clinical practice.”

Discussions across the two-day Summit will focus on long-term disease control and sustained remission, patient-specific factors influencing outcomes, and therapeutic strategies most likely to increase cure fractions. Experts will also examine how cure has been defined and achieved in other malignancies, with insights intended to inform curative strategies in myeloma and beyond. On the second day, global leaders will participate in an extended consensus-building session to align on definitions, metrics, and the most critical priorities for future research.
