Natalia Paola Schütz, MD, MSc.

Board Member

Dr. Schütz is the Chief of the Hematology Department at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires, Argentina, and leads the Hematology Training Program at its affiliated medical school.

A clinician and clinical investigator specializing in Multiple Myeloma and its precursor conditions, Dr. Schütz earned her medical degree from Universidad Favaloro and completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Hematology at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. She also holds a Master of Science in Molecular Biology of Cancer from the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), as well as a Master’s degree in Clinical Research from the Instituto Universitario del Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires.

Board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Dr. Schütz has been actively involved in numerous clinical trials, including studies on novel therapies such as CAR-T cell therapy and bispecific antibodies. She is also deeply committed to real-world research, with a particular focus on underrepresented populations—such as frail patients—and on addressing the specific treatment outcomes and healthcare challenges within the Latin American region.

Since 2023, Dr. Schütz has served as Co-Director of the ASH Clinical Research Training Institute for Latin America (CRTI-LA) and is currently a member of the Blood Global Hematology Editorial Board.

She collaborates actively with the Argentinean Multiple Myeloma Study Group (GAMM) and the Latin American Multiple Myeloma Group (GELAMM), where she serves on the Scientific Committee. In addition, she is involved in various international research initiatives. Dr. Schütz has been an active member of the IMS community for several years, contributing as faculty at local meetings in Latin America and at the IMS Annual Meeting in Rio de Janeiro in 2024.

The International Myeloma Society is a professional, scientific, and medical society established to bring together clinical and experimental scientists involved in the study of myeloma. The purpose of this society is to promote research, education, clinical studies (including diagnosis and treatment), workshops, conferences, and symposia on all aspects of multiple myeloma worldwide.

The IMS is a membership organization comprised of basic research scientists, and clinical investigators in the field along with physicians and other healthcare practitioners.
