Dorotea Fantl, MD

Board Member

Dr. Fantl currently serves as Consultant Physician in the Hematology Department of the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires in Argentina after being Head of the Hematology Department.

She is also Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the Italian Hospital of Buenos Aires and of the National Hematology Certification Training Program of the University of Buenos Aires and the Argentine Society of Hematology (SAH). In 2018, Dra Fantl was elected as President of the Argentine Society of Hematology. During her presidency the EHA / SAH Tutorial was held, and for the first time the Highlights of Past EHA (HOPE-EHA) were held in Latin America.

Dr. Fantl is a member of the professional societies ASH, EHA, SAH; she is also a member of the International Myeloma Working Group, the International Multiple Myeloma Society, and of the boards of directors of the Latin American Multiple Myeloma Study Group (GELAMM) and founder of Grupo Mieloma Argentine Multiple (GAMM)

Dr. Fantl holds membership and has an active participation in several professional societies like ASH, EHA, SAH.  In the field of Multiple Myeloma, she is also a member of the International Myeloma Working Group, the International Multiple Myeloma Society, and of the board of directors of the Latin American Multiple Myeloma Study Group (GELAMM).  She is also a founder member of the Grupo Argentino de Multiple Myeloma (GAMM)

An active researcher, Dr. Fantl has conducted many clinical trials as principal investigator and published several papers in the field of Hematology.  At the moment, she is the Head of the Clinical Research Group in hematologic malignant diseases in her center.  Her areas of interest include monoclonal gammopathies, multiple myeloma and amyloidosis.  She is also associate editor of “Hematologia”, the SAH official journal.

The International Myeloma Society is a professional, scientific, and medical society established to bring together clinical and experimental scientists involved in the study of myeloma. The purpose of this society is to promote research, education, clinical studies (including diagnosis and treatment), workshops, conferences, and symposia on all aspects of multiple myeloma worldwide.

The IMS is a membership organization comprised of basic research scientists, and clinical investigators in the field along with physicians and other healthcare practitioners.
